Checking In

I definitely  did not plan on being away from my sewing for this long.....but life ~ work happens...
My little red dress hangs on my dress form just waiting to be finished.
When I do find that extra energy , I  have every intention of finishing this beautiful dress.

It seems at this point that I just cannot  fit both work and sewing in...... and that's OK,  I know that all will come around - in due time .

I envy admire those that can :) and for now I am totally happy  reading about  what everyone is creating.

Hello Ann,
I just started following your blog. I am a sewer...actually for 50 years and it is my great passion in life.
I look forward to reading your postings. I am trying to set up my blog but the process is slow.
I couldn't help but notice your dog in the photo with you. Is that a poodle? I have one that looks just like yours. He is black and we do not clip him like a prissy poodle. He is our love...such a good guy. He is a minature (20 lb) 12 years old. Best wishes from Florida

I know the feeling, Ann. Hang in there! I hope things ease up soon.

I can totally relate. We'll still be here when you get a chance to sew. Just take care of yourself in the meantime. No worries.

Bonjour Ann,
it is so nice to hear from you anyway.
I will be here when you are back to sewing. I am thinking of you everyday as everybody here is talking about the Olympic Games in Canada

I can so relate to this dilemma--sewing or working or leisure activities of any type. I went back to work (short term) last week and can barely get in exercise, let alone any sewing! I had already planned something this week so I have been off and have made a few quick garments just to get something finished. Balance. Good luck to you!

Sigh! I know how that feels. I want to sew, but when it comes to night time and the weekend I just don't have the motivation. Teenage girls also take a lot of time...and they won't be with me forever..

I know how you feel, when you're itching to get onto that sewing machine and "create" and pesky little things like work just keep cropping up and taking up al your time, so annoying....(!) ;D
Looking forward to seeing your red dress, and hope you get an opportunity to take pictures of it in the snow, I'm thinking that would look so gorgeous!!!
Do you really not drink tea in Canada? I thought for sure you would, being part of the commonwealth like us... isn't that funny!

Like others said, it's just what happens, life gets in the way of sewing. I'm sure there will come a project along that makes you just take sewing time again.

Zen and the art of sewing the little red dress, right? February's a hard time of year, but I see the days are getting longer. You'll get to the perfect moment, eventually - when the time's right.

Welcome back - don't you just hate it when life gets in the way !? I sewed my first seam since November just 2 weeks ago. It felt pretty good (now to finish the project LOL)

Can't wait to see the red dress finished.

Thanks so much for helping me solve my tangled bobbin mess. I appreciate that you took the time.

I have just posted a scarf refashion where I took an old shirt and turned it into a gorgeous neck scarf. Next week sometime I plan to do another What I'm Wearing post. And then I need to get back to some real sewing soon. Thank you for taking time out of your busy day to visit my blog and leave comments.

Have an awesome day!

Hi Ann,

Thanks for commenting on my blog! I hope you are starting to get over your cold too. This has been a nasty one, likely because we are all sick and tired of cold, snow and being sick.

I know the feeling! Hope your life slows down soon so you can finish your red dress.
And thank you for stopping by my blog.

Tim Horton's; I've been there! When we visited Canada a friend (an Aussie who now lives there) said. "you simply have to come to this place, Canadians just love it!" and took us to one. We went a few times! The second of our visits to your country it was about thirty degrees below zero and we were dressed very inappropriately (to suit Australian winter, not Canadian!) and we kept hopping back in there to avoid freezing to death, it was a Sunday and most of the shops were shut!! lol I've never been so cold, we have a picture of ourselves standing out front of TH all rugged up and you can just see about 1cm of nose on each of us

I'm hoping to get back on my feet enough to make a skirt or 2 this month, because I need a touch of spring! I hope you get a reprieve from the chores of life so you can get back to your little red dress soon! (And look how tardy I am at reading anything...sorry!)

Hi, thankyou so much for stopping by my blog and commenting, it really makes my day! So lovely of you... Re my skirt lining you asked about; the outer skirt is a polyester burntout chiffon that is actually completely see-through, so I attached a knee length underskirt of chocolate brown bemsilk. I've only started wearing accessories in the past few months too, in an effort to de-dag myself....
I can't wait to see your red dress, like the other ladies commenting above, with bated breath. So glad you have a few days to get back to it, enjoy!
